My bookshelf: Another Gospel?
Another Gospel? was written by Alisa Childers. For those of us who have been around the block a couple of times, she was a member of the pop Christian band, ZoeGirl. Alisa began to doubt Christianity after a progressive pastor began to revise the authority of the Gospel, the reality of hell and other important Christian doctrines. She began to attend a progressive small group in which, “Every precious belief I held was placed on an intellectual chopping block and hacked to pieces.” She calls this hacking to pieces of the tenets of Christianity, “deconstruction.”
Alisa’s book examines historic Christianity, the virgin birth of Christ, He resurrection, the Bible, the atonement and hell. After intense research of both modern and ancient Biblical scholars and auditing seminary classes, she concluded that Christianity in all of its parts is true.
Another Gospel? shows how progressive Christianity tarnishes the nature of God, the mission of Jesus and the message of the Gospel.
Worse yet, the book shows how progressives, like Robb Bell, Erwin McManis, and Rachel Held-Evans, have undermined the authority of the Scriptures. The Gospel does not need revisionism.
Alisa thoroughly defends Christianity, step by step, in easy-to-understand language. She uses stories from her life to illustrate her points. It’s an easy read but packs a big punch. If you’re looking for ways to defend Christianity in plain English, this is the book for you.
