Day Three: Tuesday
Jesus goes to the Mount of Olives on Tuesday morning of Holy Week. Back at the Temple, religious leaders were upset at Jesus for what He had done the day before. It wasn’t that He sent the money changers packing. It was that, in that action, He established Himself as the spiritual authority, saying what could and what could not happen at the Temple. On this day, tradition holds, they organized an ambush with the intent of placing Him under
arrest. But Jesus shrewdly evaded their traps. Later that afternoon, Jesus went with His disciples to the Mount of Olives. It is here that Jesus gives the Olivet Discourse, which was an elaborate prophecy about the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the age. He speaks in parables and symbols about His Second Coming and the final,
coming judgment. Tuesday’s events are recorded in Matthew 21:23–24:51, Mark 11:20– 13:37, Luke 20:1–21:36, and John 12:20–38.
