As we continue our series “ A Lifestyle of Prayer”, Larry Phippin is sharing with us today When, Where, and Why We Pray. We asked Larry to write this article because of his ardent belief in prayer, which grew during his granddaughter’s bout with 4th stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Larry testifies to the power of prayer because of this granddaughter’s healing at the hand of God.
When Do You Pray?
You pray when you need God to help you through difficult situations; when you don’t know another way to solve your problems. When nothing seems to change in life, you reach out to God in prayer because He is the one we trust and need to please. When there is a situation you know that you should ask God for forgiveness, you pray. We pray for lost loved ones. We pray for our country when we have sickness and fear of war. We pray when we want to be protected from the evil one.
As you pray, you reach out in times of death, sickness, financial situations, family needs, disagreements, and marriage concerns. God is always there to listen and give us a second chance. When you are confronted by the evil one prayer gives you the strength to reject the evil one.
Where?
God is everywhere, You just need to look up to Him and share your prayer and ask for His grace and answers to prayer. One never knows when your need will arise and God is there for the asking in prayer. God is always there, you just have to reach out to Him and ask for His help. He sends His blessings, even when people are dying or having financial problems and situations.
Why?
We pray for God’s help in any situation. We remember when we prayed alone and in groups (laying hands on them) and have seen miracles happen. We pray because we believe in His word and His blessings. We believe because we have witnessed His answer to prayer. We recognize prayer is a miracle and not luck. God should get credit if He answered prayer and we are his witnesses to a miracle.
Lord God, You are our foundation, our decision Maker, our way of life, our Friend, and our Solution. Protect us from the evil one. Please help me to pause more, talk, and trust in you. Amen.
