Mondays are for Memorizing

April 3rd, Pastor Jaci shared a message reflecting on Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13)

In her message, she shares that “ I believe we are under a significant spiritual attack as a culture. Our family is right now. If you are in the same camp as we are, the Scripture says to resist the devil and he will flee from you. But you gotta resist. Ephesians 6:16 says In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.

Jesus showed us, by example, the main weapon with which we can defeat Satan. The Sword of the Lord, is also known as the Word of God. This weapon is supercharged by the Holy Spirit and can slay any enemy. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…

Your weapon won’t work unless you’re familiar with it. We must know the Word of

God and know how to use it. You will note that Jesus wasn’t flipping through His Bible, after Satan tempted Him, saying, Hold one there one second, Buddy, let Me find that verse! No, He had it hidden in His heart. Jesus, like every other Jewish boy before Him went to Torah School, where He learned Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy BY HEART. Word for Word. That’s 5845 verses.

If we wish to stand firm against the wiles of the devil, we must do likewise. I’m not saying we have to memorize the whole Bible, but I am suggesting we study it and know it. We will find victory if we take the advice of the Psalmist, who said, Psalm 119:11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.

We can’t combat Satan without knowing Scripture. Whatever our method is, singing, reading, listening, we must know Scripture, we must be able to pull it out of our hearts and utilize it at moment’s notice.”

For the remainder of 2022, we will be sharing a scripture verse on Monday for you to study and add to your arsenal in this battle against Satan.

Mondays are now for Memorizing. Starting Monday you will find a simple post with the scripture for the week. I hope you take this challenge and God’s word to heart.
